For two years from June 2023, various incentives related to electricity bills will be provided to local data centers other than the metropolitan area such as Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon.
Korea Electric Power Corporation will discount 50% off the charge of facilities such as cables and openers when connecting the distribution network (22.9 ㎸) and waive the reserve power charge when connecting the transmission network (154 ㎸).
Forming a joint task force (TF) between relevant ministries and local governments to promote the distribution of data centers, was also decided.
On the other hand, restrictions on the location of data centers in system-saturated areas will be strengthened, allowing electricity providers to refuse to supply electricity when data centers that consume large amounts of power over 5 ㎿s cause overload.
