On Friday, 2023, public institutions such as the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Jeonnam-do, Haenam-gun, Korea Electric Power Corporation, Jeonnam Development Corporation, Boseong Industrial Corporation, Korea DRD, Samsung CNS, TGK, NH Investment & Securities, and Deus Systems signed a business agreement to create "Solar City Data Center Park," a data center integration complex of up to 1GW.
Under the signing of the agreement, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Jeollanam-do, Haenam-gun, and Korea Electric Power Corporation will start building major infrastructures such as power and communication necessary for the creation of Solar City Data Center Park.
If a 1GW data center park is created in earnest through this agreement, it is expected that the Solar City development project will also speed up along with the government's first project to create an eco-friendly renewable energy industrial belt in Jeollanam-do.
